Reflecting on 2024, I have no complaints – it has been a cracking year, certainly from March onwards!
My career to date has been something of a long winding road, with more twists and turns than I had ever planned. However as I keep telling my three awesome kids, as my core Dad duty of sharing wisdom:
“There’s no point planning for the next five years, it definitely won’t happen that way!”
So twisty has that road been over the past 15 years in particular, if I’m totally honest I had given up on the notion of finding the IDEAL company to fulfil my longer term career ambitions. But then I arrive at Howden Scotland – which has never disappointed from the first day to this one…
A truly awesome company in every way and the benefit of employee ownership cannot be over stated, it makes for a very different Insurance Broker.
I had reached that cynical stage of my career where I’d worked for too many “People First” businesses to believe the claim. However for the very first time, I’ve experienced what that means…and it’s the super power of Howden. Okay, it’s one of several super powers but the one I’m most grateful for as I reflect and write my final post of the year
I am genuinely excited for 2025 – there is a lot coming up! If you get the chance to join our business during the coming year, my advice is the same as you’d get from Nike!
